We were instructed to sympathetically redevelop the former Excelsior nightclub and retail units at 191-195 Balham High Road, Balham. The site is located on the east side of Balham High Road, opposite Du Cane Court – a distinctive landmark Art Deco apartment block used to film ITV’s ‘Poirot’ series.

The initial planning application explored conversion of only half of the roof area. However, a change of circumstances allowed for the exploration of the remaining ‘void area’ to provide larger residential accommodation and therefore maximising the internal space available.

The revised scheme created a total of nine apartments across the first floor and roof extension. The ground floor was renovated to provide a 3,500 sq.ft unit for a well known convenience store.
