A new retirement community in Broadbridge Heath featuring 141 age-appropriate homes
In August 2022, a planning application was submitted for a new retirement community at Broadbridge Heath. This application detailed the provision for phase 1 of the development and included the village centre and 47 specialist homes for older people. Horsham District Council approved the application in November 2023.
The new integrated retirement community at Arun Lea will ultimately feature 141 age-appropriate homes, including both apartments and cottages. This development will offer a range of health and well-being facilities that will be accessible to both future residents and the wider community. These facilities include a restaurant, café, fitness suite, and swimming pool.
In addition to these amenities, the retirement community is designed to be a net-zero carbon (regulated energy) sustainable development. There will also be a dedicated village transport service to cater to the residents’ needs. The project is expected to create approximately 30 full-time equivalent jobs.
Following the approval of phase 1, we are now presenting our detailed plans for phases 2 and 3. In February 2024, we submitted a planning application to Horsham Council, following a public consultation event held in December 2023. We are currently collaborating with the Council and their consultees to address any outstanding queries and aim for a positive planning outcome.
