Railpen

A striking drive-through unit featuring contrasting cladding in Burger King’s unique brand colours

We recently completed a Burger King drive-through unit at Centrepoint Retail Park in Aberdeen. Appointed by Railpen as the architect for this £800,000 project, we managed the reconfiguration of the surrounding car park and took the scheme from feasibility to completion.

Retail park owners are increasingly diversifying their attractions, with drive-through F&B retail becoming a popular option. Adding another well-known brand enhances Centrepoint Retail Park’s appeal as a retail and leisure destination and creates more local employment opportunities.

The design of the new Burger King drive-through unit reflects the brand’s identity and requirements. The exterior features cream composite panels on a red brick plinth, with timber effect panels highlighting the drive-through windows and providing a backdrop for signage. Floor-to-ceiling aluminium glazing in the public-facing restaurant offers light and views both inside and out.

The site layout was meticulously planned to ensure potential queues are contained within the retail park. The proposals were also designed to align with Aberdeen City Council’s Berryden Corridor Improvement Scheme. To enhance biodiversity, the design includes planted borders with eight species of flowering shrubs, supporting local wildlife, particularly bees and birds.

This project is the latest in a series of similar schemes we have delivered for well-known F&B retailers. Our strong relationships with major F&B operators have given us a deep understanding of their specifications and brand requirements, enabling us to efficiently deliver their schemes, even on challenging sites.
