We were commissioned by our client to redevelop this city-centre retail site, situated in Essex, into a dynamic mixed-use development with senior living accommodation and associated areas of amenity and parking above the existing retail space.

The challenge for our architectural team was to develop a holistic solution which does not compromise either the operating retailer or the high-end later living accommodation. The proposals take advantage of a fantastic location and the different uses activate the city centre streets through the day into late evening. In developing this exciting scheme our design team reviewed current and future trends in the retail, leisure, hospitality and later living sectors.

The proposed building will offer a wide range of spacious apartments and communal facilities that allow for intergenerational living, and will revamp the existing retail offer.
